A one-of-a-kind vest honoring the endangered vermilion darter and the flowing waters of Alabama’s Turkey Creek.
This eco-conscious piece features a freeform appliqué river made from reclaimed denim, stitched with swirling lines in various blues to capture the motion of water. Four handmade fish appliqués—crafted from textured, donated upholstery samples—represent the vibrant and critically endangered vermilion darter, found only in the Turkey Creek watershed. The denim wraps over the shoulders and connects across the back in a continuous, flowing design. Lined with a soft secondhand Tommy Hilfiger bedsheet (100% cotton) and built for function, this vest also includes two roomy interior pockets.
